The Anima Initiation

The following poem was published by the Spiritual Writers Network
in a poetry anthology called 'Reflections Of the Soul'. It is
called 'The Anima Initiation', anima meaning the inner feminine
personality of the male. I have used the term as a metaphor in
which the male-orientated viewpoint needs to be transformed by
the inner workings of one's feminine nature.
We have come to a point in our spiritual evolution where our
purpose is to acknowledge this divine quality. By doing so, we
bring true balance and flexibility to our rigid patriarchal
existence. The duality of masculine and feminine must combine to
lead us back to the "God-Self"....

The Anima Initiation

She speaks through the lovers of silence
Seeking her presense, disperses defiance
Professing one's purity, the need to feel whole
Bathe in the depths of her eternal soul...

The embryonic waters promote self-healing
A symbiotic state of veritable feeling
Do not fear drowning, for her waters are still
Immerse thy self, be receptive to her will

Her universal solvent, strips us to the bone
Vulnerability sanctions reliance, in trusting the unknown
Through her initiation, she asks that you receive
The origins of self... In which to believe

I wrote this poem when my mother was diagnosed with cancer.
Towards the end of her life she explained to me that she rejected
her religion because it lacked the 'feminine aspect'. This poem is
about my journey in relation to embracing the 'inner goddess'. I
dedicate this poem to my mum.

To My Sons…

Archetypal Warriors
Gifts of my flesh
Brave Spirits, Peaceful Souls
Distinctive dispositions,
Of fire and water
Spell-binding elements,
Of a unique blend

Enlightening my journey,
Through a labyrinth of lessons
You are soul-brothers,
Of humour and wisdom
Blessed by your presence
You came to teach me...
The liberty of love!
