Confusion will be my Epitaph

The eden which we live in or the world. Is in a state of confusion. Confusion in just about everything. What do we believe, how can we tell truth from fiction? Are we being deceived on a world wide scale?

The answer is to all these questions is yes, we are being deceived, we are not hearing the whole truth. Possibly because we cant handle the truth. Scientisits are always searching for the truth, is this pure arrogance that they think that they have wisdom and intelligence above all others. We are told that the universe started with a big bang, this may be truth, but who caused the big bang. Did it happen by accident? or was it planned by a creator? This creator was not an old Father Christmas type figure, no Creator is something more fantastic than that. A being of purity, pure light, pure energy pure in everything, perfect in everything. The angels also were pure energy, as in the records of the ancient Celts who called on “The shining ones”, the shining ones of the north, south, east and west. Beings of pure energy? The ancients also talk of “Mother Earth” why is this so unfeasible. It is stated that man was created from the dust of the Earth, the Creator put his hand into “mother” earth, took out some essence  and created human beings.

We also are confused by evolution, there is no such thing. For one species to evolve into another, one has to change the DNA structure of that being whatever it may be. Have to change the genetic pathway, the genomes.Never has that been recorded or unearthed. NEVER. Evolution should actually be “Survival of the Fitest”, by adapting to where one lives, what food is eaten and what the climate is.The ficnes that Darwin spotted on the Galapogus islands had bigger beaks than their counterparts on the mainland. That is because one group was eating bigger seed than their cousins who were eating smaller seeds.Look at Goldfinches with their small delicate beaks ,they favour small seed like Nyger. Wher as hawfinches,Greenfinches and sparrows have bigger beaks because they eat larger seeds. The thing is though they are still all birds. This is true for all kinds of creatures om Earth, we have no dinosaurs, yes wqe do the are called crocodiles and alligators, even in the far east we have Gila monster a lizard of large size that kills , not by biting but by the bacteria that breed on their teeth. Even earthquakes and land shifts cause us confusion.Since time began our continents have been shifting. Look back far enough and one will see that there was only one main continent called Pangea, or as i call it Eden. that is why so many of the DNA trails lead back to what we call now Africa. In the days of Pangea(EDEN) modern Africa was the centre of this vast land mass. As this super continent began to shift and changeanimal specvies and human species became isolated and seperated from their fellows. The land masses continue to move and shift, isolating some  but not all.

Yes we live in confusing times but with some thought and truth telling we can make sense of everything. Only if we want to.

Hear the voice of God whisper in the wind,

hear the voice of God, in a crashing waterfall, hear him breathe thoughts into your hearts and minds,

see his mighty hand in shaping the hills and his anger in a lightning strike.

feel His love in forgiveness of sin,

He cares for us all ,like a shepherd gathers us in.

marvel at his supernatural design,

in the leaves of trees, all different and fine.

At plants and animals crops and such like all perfectly placed for our delight.

a masterpeice of imagination he made for us to walk and talk with Him.

Now that I have attained the age of sixty years old, I was sitting one day and remembering all that has gone on in my life, all the things that have changed.Things that are gone now, for good, never to return.Changes for the best, that is debateable, progress, again debateable. In fact it is amazing how much of today,s life and culture is based on the past, like for instance Trams making a comeback. This is my personal list of recollections, others will have many more, of that I am sure.

I remember the visits to Kelvin Dairies in Possilpark, with my grannie and watching mesmerised as the bakers up to their arms in flour, shaping and baking buns, loaves , cakes etc. Then on to the Co-op, where groceries were bought, not in pre-packs , but loose. Butter shaped and moulded by an assistant wielding two wooden paddles, one smooth, one serrated. The only products that came in boxes were porridge oats and cornflakes. Vehetables came loose, straight into the shopping bag.Cheese cut from a block with acheese wire, bacon cut on the bacon slicer. Tea was never bagged but came in quarter pound packs, loose tea leaves.Milk was delivered to your door and in the winter the cream froze, forcing the lid up and off inadvertently creating a feast for the Blue Tits. Saturday mornings walking down to the local newsagent and buying our supplies of comics like the Eagle, Hotspur,Tiger and occasionally The Beano or Dandy. On holiday we bought special edition comics like 21st Century, based on TV programmes like Fireball XL5 and Thunderbirds. There was also a comic/magazine whose name i cant quite recollect .Their stories were based on classic tales, foe example Call of the Wild,White fang.I rememeber also walking down to the dreaded Piano Teacher on a frioday after school, 2/6d it cost , about 12 and a half pence in todays currency.

We lived in Hillend Road, between Possilpark to the east, the Cadder scheme to the west and the Milton Scheme to the north.Trams trundled up balmore Road to the terminus at .Trolley Buses are also fondly remembered, rubber wheeled vehicles powered by electricity, how green was that.Fishing boats sailing along the Forth and Clyde canal with Lambhill Bridge raised to let it pass. Going to the butchers and getting a big bag of scraps to cook for our dog.Watching Lambhill juniors playing football on a Saturday afternoon on the pitch that is now an industrial estate. The same industrial estate that gave us kids a playground of hills and grass in the summer months. Where we found skylarks nests and lay back listening to their airborne song.Walks along the canal bank and looking for wildlife in Possil marsh, further along past Bishopbriggs and discovering hidden, ancient plantations all overgrown and a childs playground.Wandering the hedge rowed streets of Ruchill Hospital grounds ,bird-nesting. Not to vandakise but just to see the nests and youngster there. At the top end of hillend road there was a small tunnel called Hallowe,en pend, which went under the canal onto Ruchill Golf course. At this end of the road bushes and trees grew in abundance, we found a secret hideaway under some and that became our “wee den”. Talking of hidden places, my Grandfather leased an allotment in Possil which adjoined our back garden. Also there were many racing greyhound kennels beside them, between the kennels and the allotments ran a road ,well a track. Again a stand of trees and shrubbery grew , wild and unkempt. Squeezing through them ,imagine the delight and pleasure at finding a little pond there with ducks ,unperturbed swimming.

I remember cars , when they had chromed bumpers and bench front seats, they didn’t have digital players or mp3 plugs sophisticated gear changers. Most of them were column change gears. Summers when the tar melted on the roads, autumn fulls of leaves and nuts and wind, winters that froze everything and usually snow at Christmas, springs when everything grew anew.In other words defined seasons.Roads may have bben slow but certainly more interesting than todays grey strips of monotiny.Where it took most of the day to travel from Glasgow to Cullen in the Moray Firth. When the whole of Glasgow emptied at “Glasgow Fair” crowd heading for Steam trains and coaches to exotic places like Blackpool and Rothesay. We went to Girvan and then Cullen, exotic and strange for us.

In the late sixties came the days of peace and love of anti-war protests of new music. Even in

the press things became more open, censorship was frowned upon. The Beatles were a phenomena never to be repeated, Rolling Stones brought in rythm and blues, Dave Clark was glad and singer /songwriters appeared.Singing new songs for a new generation.Tie dyed T-shirts, Flared loon pants, native north American styles and Indian style from the east . amalgamated and ,like the flowers , bloomed. Long hair , for men became the norm, which led to mullets and feather cuts of the seventies.Hippies and hippie types rolled on in wheels of fire, some still adhere to these thoughts and way of thinking. Nowadays called New Age. Hippies may have been frowned upon then but they were the first to consider the environment and ecology, all religions were melded, influences from all the airts and pairts, unification indeed

Remember footballers before they became over paid prima donnas, when they could give and take a tackle. When teams had players who lived and grew up locally. The Home internationals when newspapers produced collectable editions especially for the Scotland v. England games.Watching black and white television, Andy Stewart at New Year, Francie and Josie, football matches in grainy black and white,Emmerdale when it was just a tale of everyday farm folk.  Days when the telly finished the same day it started, of test cards and intermissions. Games like subbuteo, draughts, chess, monopoly. When playing cowboys and Indians were not politically incorrect. The days when cycle rides up the trossachs was a regular Saturday excursion.Remember Bakery vans coming round, Fish vans, coal delivered by black sooty faced men with leathershoulder aprons, when dustbin men actually lifted the dustbins and came round to get them.Of gaslighters lighting street lamps and the gas lights in the closes. When Policemen walked the beat and were known to everyone even criminals.

These are some of the things that stick lovingly in my mind. The main thing was though was the caring ,sharing attitudes of the old days. Where everyone was the same in your street, no one had aspirations of grandeur. Yes the old days remembered fondly, were those days the best, yes when these days were the one my age group grew up in, Like today,s youngsters, their memories will be remembred fondly in their time.

The call today from many Christian circles and groups is how do we get folk to come to come to church in order to here the gospel. Many gimmicks are employed such as rock bands special events, where incidentally one has to buy tickets. Many churches employ the attitude that if we dress casually folk will flock in. In other words churches are trying to conform to the worlds image and attitudes, that can cause all sorts of problems. Many people do attend the new independent churches, but it seems to be done as a trendy gimmicky exercise. They have no conviction or substance to their belief and faith. Also many are not taught the principles of God’s word, no one is encouraged to read the Bible, meditate on it and ask questions. There seems to be an attitude of having a blind faith not to rock the boat and do not ask questions. There is a blueprint for churches available, it is so simple to follow and is readily available to all believers, it is to be found in the book of Acts. Not the whole book of acts but in the areas of the fledgling church in the years after Jesus, ascension to Heaven.

Acts chapter two verses 42-47.  The Fellowship of Believers.

They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching, and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe. The apostles did many wonders and miraculous signs.

All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people.

In addition, the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

What a lesson these verses teach us. First of all the people were taught and mixed together. No favourites no celebrity, no one more special than the other, no looking down on the poorest of their company. In addition, they had that sense of wonder, like a Childs sense of wonder at the amazing things that they were witnessing. Today amazing things still happen but all too often it is false and with no conviction and no authority from God.

They sold their possessions, imagine that happening today. I can’t as there is a lack of faith in Churches today. Oh they hear about God replenishing what one has given, but very very few actually believe it. All too often we hear that so and so is great at business has made a fortune, lives in a large fancy house and drives a luxury car. He is a church goer, arrives on a Sunday in his Gucci suit, his beautiful trophy wife on his arm. People look up to him and exclaim, God must have truly blessed that man, he has everything, millionaire at age 35 etc etc. His house is a bigger barn, built to house his earthly treasures; yes, he is good at storing up earthly treasure. He prays at the prayer meeting with great vocabulary and much waving of arms, wow he must be super spiritual they say. I have worked hard all my life, built a business and sold it for a fortune. All my hard work, all my inventiveness, all my success. At the same church there is a family whose father also works hard, so hard in fact that he has made himself  ill. Not just work but the type of work that was done, work that was done for a major player in the chemicals business where not so much emphasis was put on health and safety of the workers. The company was sold last week making a fortune for its owner. All that this poor man was paid off, as the new owners only bought the company to asset strip and close it down, therefore cutting competition. His fellow Christians also respect the poor man admire him for his strength and resilience, run up to him on a Sunday and tell him that they received a text for him, also telling him that God has a plan for him and must be something great, for all this suffering he has had to endure. Not one, including the rich man, puts their money where their mouth is. Not one believes enough to help, they would rather watch this man and his family deteriorate daily, their house fall to rack and ruin. As long as their lives are not put to the test. Yes, they all profess Christ, they are all good Christians. However, I need my money for my pension, for my health costs, God will help the poor. They do not know their scriptures where God says that he does not bless everyone financially but bless some SO THAT THEY CAN THEN BLESS OTHERS. That is Gods message in action, faith without works are nothing. God says that He will provide ones needs, not by a bolt of lightning from the sky, but by supplying others with the means to pass on help to those less fortunate.

Some would say then why does God not help everyone. The point is He does, but man in his selfish sin does not or will not recognise it, that it is a test. A test of faith in God, he gives mightily to one so that Gods glory can be manifest and seen by non-believers by the giving to those that have nothing. To God be the glory, great things He has done.

We are as nothing without God. He knew us before we were born, no one is here by accident, we were all planed, and we all have a destiny. God gives and God takes away, but only takes away from those who disobey. God loves us all, gave us a world to cherish, provided us with everything that we could possibly want and we have thrown it away.

It is not too late .He waits for us in anticipation, patiently, waits for us to come home and embrace Him.

Nothing existed within the void no light, no sound no life.

A pulsating ball of energy swirled and grew and spun

Expanding as its colour changed, shifted absorbed

Towers of solid light appeared surrounded by a host.

Shining beings danced and sung, praising voices lost

Souls of energy raising a song of celestial delight

Arcs of light shot out like arms sending love within the void

Shining souls streamed out creating as they went

Taking energy from the source to build a universe

Full of wonder and mysterious sight.

Many countless specks appeared of light and reflected love

Each on its own a world of energy alive

This one spot ,the source decalared is mine to do with

As I please my special place to walk alone.

Twas a world of water and little land

Where creatures large and small swam and frolicked

And on the land non swimmers thrived

Where the source could walk alone

Two trees he planted there brought from home

Across the ever growing universe

Seeds from two that grew there, one of life

And the other of wisdom rare, knowledge of all things

Planted there on edens breast where energy connected them to home

That some would call paradise.

While he walked upon this land

Shining ones came to the source seeking wisdom

Guidance ,discussing what they had made pleased with

Approval and encouragement to travel on

Some though it has to be said grew weary of travel

Amid the skies and sprinklings of light

No matter the beauties that they saw the marvels

The art of energy bright creating works beyond compare

Like spoiled children they cried and sobbed

Wanting to share what the source had wrought

In his magnificence and omnipresent light

Bid them stay and enjoy the bounty of his love.

The shining ones quietly grew on edens shore

Keeping to themselves and apart from all the source had made.

Not interfering or influencing  what was created there.

Some grew restless and coveted more why should the source

Have the say and treat the others like children at play.

One with voice louder than the rest gave himself a name.

My name is Lukifer he bellowed in a rage

and I will be exalted within this wide universe

on this eden I will rule and will become more than the source

and so he vanished into the shadows to plot and create deceit.

Sons of the source the greatest of the children of light

took counsel with the source , the father and mother of them all

Nodding as the story did unfold of Lukifer and his plan

I will take steps to quell this unrest and rebellious move

my work on eden is complete my creatures thrive and roam

protecting my seeds and trees of life and knowledge both

my first and second folk, my friends in my image grow

upon this eden they will thrive forever bear my love.

In the quiet of the day unseen by the source

Lukifer changed his face and talked with Eve alone

( for that was her name, her mate the first named Adam)

deceived into an act so cruel she followed his every word

and stole the knowledge of the tree and brought dark clouds

upon the shores of eden fair, and darkness reigned in the sky.

The source of the universe wailed his cries shook all the stars

shining ones ran and hid to escape bright energies wrath

anger shook edens splendid shore causing seas to rise

the winds of his sadness destroyed the forests lush

sons of the source with swords of fire, were placed on edens shore

protecting the two trees fair and sent Lukifer to his lair.

Bright shining source of sacred light left his eden then

returned to his far off home away from edens land

but still his love for his eden dwells within his soul

and some day soon will return to claim what is his own.
