It’s Time to Make the Donuts

Does everybody remember the classic Dunkin Donuts commercials from around the early to mid-1990’s where Fred the Baker would rise up about 2 to 3 o’clock in the morning to go into the donut shop just to make donuts. He was best known for his catchphrase “Time to make the donuts!” Fred would make sure that he was up early enough making donuts before anybody else who sold donuts; before any other Bakery, Grocery Store or Restaurant. In order for Fred the Baker and Dunkin Donuts to have and maintain the freshest and best donuts around they had to make a sacrifice and do something’s that were uncommon and things that were not considered the norm. They had to be willing to do the work nobody else was willing to do in order to be the best donut shop around.

If we look at Luke 2:45-49 we see that Jesus was 12 yrs. old, strong in the spirit and filled with wisdom, and the grace of God. While traveling with His parents Joseph and Mary to Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover. Once it was time to leave, His parents headed home not knowing that Jesus was still in Jerusalem. After one day had gone by they began to ask people if they had seen Jesus. In Verse. 45 it says that they didn’t find Him they returned to Jerusalem. After searching for three days they finally found Jesus sitting in the temple surrounded by doctors and religious leaders. When His parents found Him they said in Verse 48 …“Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.” (In other words, where in the world have you been, we’ve been looking for you everywhere.) Then Jesus responded; “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”

His parents didn’t understand what their son Jesus meant when He said “I must be about My Father’s business”. At this time in Jesus’ life He realized that He was God’s Son and that He had to get focused and get serious about what God the Father wanted Him to do. Now the question is, Have you gotten serious about what God has called you to do? You do realize that God has called you to do something in His will, that a lot of people won’t understand. (Not even Friends or Family) In order to be used by God we have to make some sacrifices, we have to do some things that aren’t the norm. We have to be about our Father’s Business. Too many of us Christians are more concerned about our own business and I suggest that It’s Time to Make the Donuts. It’s time to start focusing on what it is God wants us to do in His Kingdom and in His Will. I encourage you to increase your Prayer Life and to get closer to the Word of God so you also can start being about your Father’s Business. God Bless U!
