The Beggar

And there he sat alone and withered,

Tired, sad,

No clothes, he shivered.

And as his soul called out to others,

His head hung low, have I no brothers?

Walking past, their life so full

he pleaded flatly,

drained and dull.

No enthusiasm could he share,

with fellow humans,

that didnt care.

“A coffee?” I asked to the top of his head.

“A pound” he replied,

to which i said

” A coffee and a pound, is it a deal?”

He grinned and murmured,

“Are you for real?”

I ponder today, as I lay on my bed.

Is the street man right?

Is caring dead?

Alone i cannot make it all right,

but for love i will continue,

for mankind i will fight!

Deathly Seperation

And there he is
that man I know,
and yet I do not know him.
Stark white cotton
lays over him.
Shallow catching,
just enough.

Without a glance
I call him from my heart,
he knows.
Familiar over years.
Recognition from his fading light,
my need is great.
Forever.

For another guarantee,
I ask of him
My eternal provider denies.
Heart sinks, soul blinks,
Shrinking our connection.
Strengthening the fear,
Loneliness envelops.

Seeing him,
stay with me I plead,
his soul still lurking.
Blind am not,
denial dwelling deep.
Acceptance pushing in,
forcing.

In the dark harsh and cold,
leaving him alone.
No worries for him,
all for me.
Many questions,
confused,uncertain.

My new world begins.
